A big thank
you to everyone who participated in Applebee's
Dining to Donate May 2! 15% of your bill was donated to Marion
County Project Graduation!
What is it?
"Project Graduation" is a special event in Marion
County that you, as a parent of a student graduating in the Class of 2010, can
support in a number of special ways. For over 20 years, "Project Graduation" has
served a valuable purpose not only providing an all-night, adult-supervised
evening of drug and alcohol free fun to Marion County graduates, but also
offering a special evening to those who have experienced it. Nearly 5000
students have participated in "Project Graduation" since its inception. Last
year was a tremendous success and nearly all the students stayed for the entire
evening of activities!
It is a proven way to provide graduates of Marion County High Schools with an
alternative to traditional drinking celebration on this special night in their
lives.
In addition, this party gives our county an opportunity to express, "We are
Proud of You!" Marion County Project Graduation is not a school sponsored
function but a coordinated effort by students, school personnel, businesses,
service clubs and churches in cooperation with Marion County Parks and
Recreation.

WHY IS PROJECT GRADUATION IMPORTANT?
All segments of the community pitch in to make a
great evening for the graduates. Adults may also make new friends at Project
Graduation.
Parents benefit since:
* The seniors don't drink.
* The seniors don't drive.
* Parents know where their children are.
* The seniors are supervised.
And, beyond the graduation event, parents may begin to consider how the
community can provide other drug-free social activities for youth throughout the
year.
